A fair deal?
This lesson involves comparing the lives of members and non-members of a Fairtrade farming collective, completing a comparison chart, and role-playing conversations between them.
The lesson takes about 1 hour in total.
To start with, students are introduced to some people from around the village of Mim, in Ghana. They use information about these characters to compare the lives of Fairtrade farmers and non-Fairtrade farmers. Then they role play a conversation where a Fairtrade farmer tries to persuade a non-Fairtrade farmer to join their organisation.
You can use our paid-for Pa Pa Paa photo pack for this lesson, but it's not essential. There is also the option to view the cocoa people on screen or print out their photos.
