Pa Pa Paa: Teach About Fairtrade and Cocoa Comic Relief

Bean to Bar

This lesson involves tracing the chocolate journey from bean to bar.

You can split the lesson across two sessions:
Activity A takes about 55 minutes, Activity B takes about 50 minutes.

The lesson starts by briefly exploring Mim, a village in Ghana where cocoa is grown. (Mim is explored more fully in a different lesson plan.)

The class is then divided into 10 groups of 3-4 students per group to carry out two activities that trace the chocolate journey from bean to bar. Students match captions and descriptions to photos.

You can use our paid-for Pa Pa Paa photo pack for this lesson, but it's not essential. There is also the option to view and print out the photos yourself.
